FoodClean Achieves Major Milestone
PRCD Registration and New Distribution Warehouse in Ireland
We are thrilled to announce a significant milestone for FoodClean, highlighting our ongoing commitment to excellence and regulatory compliance.
Navigating Complex Borders Post-Brexit
With Ireland remaining in the EU after the UK’s departure during Brexit, we face a complex border situation. Despite the historical ‘free’ border with Northern Ireland, Ireland now adheres strictly to EU regulations. This means that all biocidal products containing approved active substances must undergo thorough safety and efficacy evaluations under the EU Biocidal Product Regulations (BPR) before being sold in Ireland and the broader EU market.
PRCD Registration: Ensuring Safety and Compliance
For biocidal products to be sold in Ireland, they must be authorised according to the Biocidal Products Directive (Directive 98/8/EC) or the Biocidal Products Regulations (Regulation (EU) No 528/2012). The Pesticide Registration and Control Division (PRCD) of the Department of Agriculture and Food is responsible for implementing and enforcing these regulations. This includes a range of products such as disinfectants, industrial preservatives, pest control products, anti-foulants, and embalming fluids.
We are proud to share that our product AMPHOSAN has received its unique PCS number (PCS 102521) from the PRCD, enabling it to be sold in Ireland. This registration is a testament to our product’s compliance with rigorous EU standards.
Compliance with EU Regulations
To meet EU BPR regulations, several key requirements must be fulfilled:
- Active Substances Registration: Active substances must be registered under Article 95 and must not be banned or unsupported.
- Labelling: Product labels must comply with Article 69 of the Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR) (EU) No. 528/2012 and the CLP Regulation (EC) 1272/2008. This includes necessary warnings and information about proper product use to ensure safety and legal compliance.
- Advertisements: All advertisements for biocidal products must comply with Article 72 of the BPR, including the statement: “Use biocides safely. Always read the label and product information before use.”
